German Enriquez, Parque Ecologico Metropolitano de Leon (Mexico)
Born in León Mexico in February 19th 1987. Industrial Engineer with a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. CEO of Parque Metropolitano de León in Mexico and adjunct professor on climate change related courses at Tecnológico de Monterrey University. Studied and worked in 5 different countries and former member of Engineers Without Borders chapter Denmark.
Natural Energy Powered Park
Nowadays, climate change is one of the most important challenges that concerns all countries. Natural protected areas, along with large urban parks, play a very important role in the cities' mitigation of GHG and environmental awareness which are essential to deal with this global issue. The presentation consists on the research and application of current and innovative sustainable solutions to deal with the energy consumption of León's Ecological Metropolitan Park during its regular operation and massive events.
This presentation will take into consideration the great variety of natural and residual resources available in the natural protected area, benchmarking practices from around the planet through the World Urban Parks organization and the expertise in the area provided by the University of Tennessee in order to increase energy usage efficiency and explore energy generation projects in the park's facilities.
