The role of parks in improving people's physical and mental health and well-being - how well are we really doing?
The evidence of the positive impact of parks and green spaces on improving people's physical and mental health and well-being has been around for many years now. But how well are we as a parks and recreation industry really doing in promoting these benefits and using them to leverage additional funding and improve the profile and community value of parks and green spaces? What do we know about the real impact of increased use of parks or exercise in green spaces on improving people's physical and mental health? What is the role of organisations like WUP and PLA in this space? This presentation will explore these questions using case studies from Australia and around the world. This presentation will be designed to provoke further discussion both during the session and afterwards. Attendees to the session will be encouraged to share their experiences on this very important and relevant topic.
