Better Business Cases, improving masterplanning and sport facilities

Abstract

The wider benefit of sport and recreation is known to all of us at the Parks Congress – however it is no longer the single driver behind facilities. Governments around the world are calling for better planned facilities that provide a benefit – and even a profit. Certainly, funding is no longer released without a serious game plan for the financial outcomes of the facility. Sports and Recreation facilities can write a great strategic case, but how detailed is the economic and financial case? Drawing on case studies from New Zealand, learn how Better Business Cases (a UK concept) that are required by the New Zealand Transport Agency are now being applied to parks, sport, recreation and tourism masterplanning.
